Over 60 performances and musical activities will take place across the region on
Thursday, June 21, 2018 as part of Make Music Southeastern CT. Make Music Day is
a one-day event where free, live musical performances, opportunities to make music,
and other musical events take place in public parks, community organizations,
sidewalks, performance spaces, and businesses on the longest day of the year.

This is the first time that Southeastern CT and the entire state of CT will participate in the

Musical festivities in Sprague, Groton, Mystic, New London, North Franklin, Norwich,  
North Stonington, Norwich, Old Lyme, and Waterford are part of the first Make Music
Connecticut, and the annual global celebration of music-making inspired by France’s
Fête de la Musique.

Performances in New London, organized by New London Music Festivals, Inc. and Neff Production with support from the City of New London, make up more than half of the region’s events.

Make Music Southeastern CT is being administered in partnership with the Connecticut Office of the Arts and the following organizations: Greater Hartford Arts Council, Southeastern Connecticut Cultural Coalition, The Arts Council of Greater New Haven, Windham Arts, Stamford Downtown, Middletown Commission on the Arts, Northwest Connecticut Arts Council, Fairfield Theatre Company, Waterbury Symphony Orchestra, the City of Waterbury and City Lights Gallery in Bridgeport.

Held annually on June 21, Make Music Day is part of the international Fête de la
Musique, taking place in 800 cities across 120 countries. The daylong, musical freefor-all
celebrates music in all its forms, encouraging people to band together and play
in free public concerts. This year, 70+ U.S. cities are organizing Make Music
celebrations, encompassing thousands of music making opportunities nationwide.
