CT at Work- A CT Humanities Initiative (Winter 2014)
The Groton Public Library is one of seven sites across the state chosen to host The Way We Worked, an exhibition created by the Smithsonian Institution that traces the history of work life in America. Based on images from the National Archives, the exhibition will make six-week stops at venues in seven towns: New Haven, Torrington, Hartford, Waterbury, Coventry, Stamford and Groton. In Groton, the exhibit will be on view at the Library from November 8 through December 21, 2014.

The Way We Worked exhibition is planned as the foundation of a statewide initiative, CT at Work,  sponsored by CT Humanities to engage Connecticut residents in an in-depth exploration of work. Each region hosting the exhibition will feature book discussions, author talks, films, music, community conversations, local history, art, photo essays, storytelling, walking tours, oral histories, poetry, theater, gallery talks and exhibitions that relate to the past, present and future of work particular to each region. Grants are available from CT Humanities to support these projects. To watch a 30-second PSA about The Way We Worked, click here.
