CT Open House Day – SECT Locations
Connecticut Open House Day is an annual event scheduled for the second Saturday of June, when cultural organizations and tourism attractions throughout the state open their doors to Connecticut residents and invite them to discover – and rediscover – Connecticut’s fascinating world of art, history, film and tourism with a variety of special in-state visitor incentives.
Coordinated by the Connecticut Office of Tourism, this unique one-day event is a great way for residents to enjoy the wealth of treasures offered right here in Connecticut.
SOUTHEASTERN CT OPEN HOUSE DAY 2019 LOCATIONS
Free admission from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., offering tours of the history museum in addition to three other historic sites including Hayward Fire Museum, School of Colored Children, and the Nathaniel Foote House.
East Haddam Historical Society & Museum, East Haddam
Free admission and tours from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., along with tours and complimentary gifts.
Goodspeed Opera House, East Haddam
From 9 a.m. until noon, enjoy free tours of the historic Victorian theater built in 1876.
Staehly Farm Winery, East Haddam
Farm will be open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. From noon to 4 p.m., visitors can enjoy special offerings include wine and rhubarb tastings, gardening activities, Touch A Tractor and rides, and an ice cream food truck on-site.
Ashbel Woodward House Museum, Franklin
Free admission from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. A lecture from a Franklin notable at 2 p.m., followed by a tour to a nearby cemetery (weather permitting).
Blue Slope Country Museum, Franklin
Reduced admission from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. of $1. Have fun with interactive activities including solving historical farming questions.
Avery-Copp House Museum, Groton
Free admission from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., with free tours and children’s activities. Grounds available for picnics and games. Also, the neighborhood is hosting a community-wide event the same day and there will shuttle buses between all the sites, and a free water taxi between Groton and New London.
Bill Memorial Library, Groton
Open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Day long outdoor art show and sale, along with crafts, interactive activities, food, music and book sale.
Ebenezer Avery House, Groton
Open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. during the Groton Bank Day, which provided free shuttle to the places in Groton and also free water taxi. Visitors receive a free post card.
Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park, Groton
Park will be open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., offering give-aways.
Mother Bailey House, Groton
Open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.; with a display about Mother Bailey’s contributions to the rich history of the Village of Groton Bank, along with a guest presenters including the town historian and a local musician, and a children’s activity.
Lebanon Historical Society Museum, Lebanon
From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., visitors can take a ride in a Model T and try your hand at old-time chores; watch demonstrations; and create a gift with cone cones or wool. Food available for purchase.
Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center, Mashantucket
Open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., offering 20% off general admission.
Denison Homestead Museum, Mystic
Free admission from noon until 4 p.m.
Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center, Mystic
Free admission for Connecticut residents from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Mystic Aquarium, Mystic
Open from 9 a.m. until 5:50 p.m. Offering $4 off general admission, good up to four guests when you mention “Connecticut Open House Day” at the admission gate. Discount available at the time of purchase; cannot be combined with any other offers. Good for general admission only.

Open from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Watch live glassblowing demonstrations throughout the day and a display of all new work in the gallery.

Samuel Smith Farmstead, Niantic
Free guided tours of the historic farmstead with demonstrations on butter making and weaving, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Thomas Lee House, Niantic
Free admission from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., with house and schoolhouse tours, hands-on activities, historical exhibits, animals, and Colonial crafters.
Leffingwell House Museum, Norwich
Free self-guided tours of the first floor of the historic Colonial house from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Slater Memorial Museum, Norwich
Free admission from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
William A. Buckingham Library, 307 Main St., Norwich
From 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. view the recently period restored Connecticut Civil War Governor’s Library. Books from the original library and Civil War Report and Communications books along with the American Civil War database will allow visitors to research any family members. In addition, artifacts will be displayed.
Indian and Colonial Research Center, Old Mystic
Free admission from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., with tours of collections and resources.
James Merrill House, Stonington
Open from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Tour the picturesque residence of noted American poet, and first poet laureate of Connecticut, James Merrill, in the maritime village of Stonington Borough. This historic site is not generally open to the public.
Shoreline Ringers, Uncasville
From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., visitors will enjoy hands-on activities with music and rhythm.
Tantaquidgeon Museum, Uncasville
Open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., take a tour of the oldest Indian-owned and -operated museum in America and receive a complimentary giveaway, plus special guest speaker.
