Connect, Collaborate, Communicate with key members of the media industry – newspaper, radio, online – to learn more aligning the needs of the media for newsworthy coverage with the region’s interesting arts and cultural stories.

A panel of experts from newspaper, radio, online social media, and public relations will address your questions on how best to navigate the media and take advantage of marketing opportunities. Learn more about best practices, tips and tools for getting your events and business in print, on the airwaves, or on the internet.

“This Cultural Summit was developed in direct response to our many arts, cultural and heritage partners who expressed a desire to better understand who to contact and how to receive media coverage.  Media organizations are changing rapidly and online options are increasing with risks and rewards.  We are proud to offer a panel of professionals who will discuss media industry needs and the options for arts and cultural organizations in the community.”

Featured Panelists Include:

Kristina Dorsey – Features Editor, arts & entertainment writer, The Day, New London
Kristina primarily covers theater and oversees the Night & Day entertainment section but also periodically writes about films.  She ran screaming out of the movie theater the first time she visited one. The film was “Mary Poppins,” and the then-3-year-old didn’t realize it would be dark in the cinema. Since then, she’s courageously overcome her fear of darkened theaters and become a movie fanatic.

B.J. Finnell – Vice President, Media, Quinn & Hary, New London
B.J. joined Quinn and Hary in 2014, after serving four years as General Manager of Q & H’s parent company, Regan Communications Group of Boston.  In that role, B.J. provided strategic direction and operational assistance to the company’s public relations, advertising and marketing teams.  Before joining Regan Communications, B.J. spent three decades as an award winning broadcast journalist, including news anchoring on WCBS Newsradio in New York City, and play by play duties for UConn basketball and football on the Connecticut Radio Network.

Louvenia Brandt – Multi Media Sales Manager, The Bulletin & Propel Marketing, Norwich
Lou started her career in Virginia Beach, where she managed a 7 franchise Auto Dealership before returning to Connecticut to work with The Bulletin.  In her current role, she leads the strategic and tactical digital media sales efforts for The Bulletin and Propel Marketing, a Gatehouse Media Property.  Although she is Google AdWords and Analytics Certified, her specialty is in Social Media Marketing and Advertising.  She has been helping businesses with their media solutions for more than 10 years

Rosanne Sinagra – Senior Marketing Consultant, Cumulus Media, New London, Radio WQGN-FM (Q105 Today’s Hits); WMOS-FM (102.3 The Wolf); WXLM-AM (980AM News/Talk/Sports)
Rosanne has a comprehensive understanding of how to help, and direct businesses to exceed their expectations and build their business.  With an extensive background in retail management, Rosanne works hand in hand with local business owners, national marketing agencies and non-profit organizations.  She sits as Co-chair of The City of New London’s Economic Development Commission and resides in her family’s historical house in New London.

Bence Strickland – Chief Strategies Officer, D2 Media Solutions, New London
Bence Strickland is originally from Atlanta, Georgia where he began his marketing career at a startup dotcom incubator, facilitating relationships between online entrepreneurs and venture capitalists.  He joined The Day in 2006 managing magazines and tourism. Bence is Chief Strategies Officer of D2 Media Solutions at The Day where he works and partners with local businesses in all aspects of reaching their marketing goals.

A brief update on the CORE calendar will also be provided by Sheri Cote, Vice President, Chamber of Commerce Eastern CT.
