Assets for Artists Spring workshops
Calling all CT Artists and Creative Entrepreneurs!
How would you like to attend workshops on business fundamentals and marketing strategies for artists, taught by experts in the field, and all for FREE?
This spring, the Southeastern CT Cultural Coalition and the CT Office of the Arts are partnering with the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art’s acclaimed Assets for Artists program to offer four free business and marketing workshops for Connecticut-based artists.
Space is limited and seats will be filled on a first-come basis. If you’re interested in any of the workshops listed below, email Briana Halpin (bhalpin@massmoca.org) by March 28 with your name, full street address, web address for your art practice/business, and workshop requests.
WORKSHOP 1: Saturday, April 9, 1-6pm (Mystic, CT)
Press Ready: PR for Artists with Sarah Platanitis
Sarah Platanitis is a lifestyle journalist and media educator focused on public relations tools for artists. In this workshop, participants will develop marketing and PR savvy, learn to work more effectively with journalists, improve their websites, and gain skills related to presenting and interviewing.
WORKSHOP 2: Saturday, April 23, 1-6pm (Torrington, CT)
Press Ready: PR for Artists with Sarah Platanitis
This is the same workshop as above. Due to its popularity, we’re offering it in two different dates/locations!
WORKSHOP 3: Tuesday, April 26, 10am-5pm (New Britain, CT)
Business Planning for Artists with Sarah Guerette
Sarah Guerette is a business counselor who specializes in small businesses and artist-run enterprises. This interactive workshop for artists in all media will cover the fundamentals of running an arts-based business, equipping participants with the skills needed to develop a personalized business plan.
WORKSHOP 4: Wednesday, May 4, 1-6pm (Hampton, CT)
Branding and Marketing for Visual Artists with Jessica Burko
Jessica Burko is a practicing artist, independent curator, and Arts Marketing professional. In this dynamic workshop, Jessica will help visual artists and craftspeople gain a better understanding of how to present their work, how to identify their target audience, and how to create a detailed marketing plan while building the confidence to implement it.
